A Law Dictionary, Adapted to the Constitution and Laws of the United States
a person appointed in the place of another to represent him. In the ecclesiastical law, a law concerns, is called a proxy, Ayl. Parerg. Proxies are also annual payments, made by the parochial clergy to the bishop, &c. on visitations. ‘Toml. Law l Jiict. h. t. Vide Rutherf.
