One who represents another; one who acts for and in place of another; one who is deputed by another to vote for him, as in the election of directors of private corporations; the authority by which such a deputation is effected.
In English law
One who is deputed to vote for a member in the House of Lords; the written appointment of a proctor in suits in the ecclesiastical courts.
