Ahoskie is a town in Hertford County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 4,523 at the 2000 census. Ahoskie is located in North Carolina's Inner Banks region. Ahoskie is known as the "only one" because there is no other town in the world known by the same name. The origin of the word Ahoskie was originally spelled "Ahotsky", and came from the Wyanoke Indians who entered Hertford County during the beginning of European settlement.
