Mendota is an unincorporated community in Washington County in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Virginia. Elevation approx 1800 ft. It is part of the Kingsport–Bristol (TN)–Bristol (VA) Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City–Kingsport–Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area – commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region. The name Mendota is native American for "bend in the river". Close to S. Fork of Holston river. The nearest major city is Bristol.
