Community Redevelopment Law
Nevada · Redevelopment of Communities · §§ 279.382 to 279.730 · 157 sections
Overview
Community Redevelopment Law authorizes local governments to designate deteriorated or blighted areas within their boundaries and to undertake their rehabilitation and redevelopment as a public purpose. It provides for the creation of a local redevelopment agency, activated by resolution of the community's governing body, and sets out how that agency's members are appointed and how long they serve — including an option for the governing body itself to act as the agency. The act grants redevelopment powers such as the acquisition of real property, including by eminent domain, defines the terms and duration of redevelopment plans and their amendment, authorizes bonds and other financing obligations, directs other public bodies to assist redevelopment efforts, and treats the provision of decent, safe, and sanitary housing as part of its purpose.
